Installing IBM SPSS
IBM SPSS is a statistical analysis program used on a number of courses at the University of Suffolk. This guide explains the process for downloading and installing the program on your personal device.
Please note that the IT Service Desk offers support with the installation of IBM SPSS. For assistance in using the program once installed, please contact your course team.
System Requirements
IT Services provide an IBM SPSS download file for both Microsoft Windows and MacOS.
While IBM SPSS supports most hardware platforms, some processor types are not supported. For details of the hardware requirements, please visit the IBM support pages here: https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/softwareReqsForProduct.html
Downloading and preparing to install
Please read the restrictions that apply to using the software on personal devices below:
SPSS software can be used by staff employed by University of Suffolk, this does not include partner college staff (staff who have P accounts). All University of Suffolk students enrolled on any course, at any campus (e.g. Ipswich/Bury/Yarmouth/Lowestoft) can use the software.
SPSS Download and Licence code
Please note, when attempting to download the SPSS/AtlasTi software you will be prompted to log in. The credentials for this prompt can be found below the download link.
You’ll be re-directed to a Restricted Access area of MySuffolk. If you haven’t previously logged in to MySuffolk on your computer, you will be prompted to enter your University of Suffolk username and password.
The Restricted Access area will provide you with:
- The download link for Microsoft Windows and MacOS
- A username and password to access the download link (you will be asked to provide this information to start the download, and this is separate to your University of Suffolk username and password)
- The licence key to authorise the program
After clicking the appropriate download for your operating system and entering the username and password, the IBM SPSS installation file will start to download.
Good to know! The installation file is large and download time will depend on your internet connection. This may be an appropriate time to make that cup of tea.
