Saving Documents

You have access to an unlimited personal storage area for your University of Suffolk data, this area is securely backed up every night. Through your Office 365 Email account we also provide you with 50GB storage on Microsoft’s OneDrive. This is cloud based storage which allows you to upload and save documents, work on documents using Word/PowerPoint/Excel Online and retrieve your document from any computer. Please refrain from saving to your desktop, doing so causes login times to increase and potentially causes issues with your user profile. Use your Z: Drive which stores your files separately:

We recommend you save your documents in 3 places to prevent data loss or corruption. Places to save work could include; your personal PC/Mac/Laptop, an external hard drive/USB stick, the University’s OneDrive system and on our campus PCs.

Please note that we cannot always recover lost or corrupted data and therefore we advise you to back up every piece of work you produce.

Student Email – Office 365 Platform

All students are now using Microsoft’s Office 365 platform for their student emails. This includes access to the webmail client, OneDrive cloud storage, Word/Excel/PowerPoint Online, a number of online tools and integration of your course timetable.

Logging in requires your username followed by @uos.ac.uk e.g. s123456@uos.ac.uk and then your University Password [Please note that if @uos.ac.uk isn’t working you should use @ucs.ac.uk]

The key selling point of this system is that you are given 5 FREE licences of Microsoft Office 2016 for use during your studies. This can be installed on all PCs, Apple Macs and your phones/tablets. Please be aware that Office cannot be installed on Chromebooks.

You have to login, even on campus, to post comments. Perhaps this is limiting the number of people that post comments on our pages?

The known issues page is really helpful but with the new set up is harder to find. Maybe it could be added to the home page again?
