In all General Purpose Teaching (GPT) rooms are desk is provided at the front of the room which houses all the AV input and control equipment. These desks are manufactured by a company called TeamMate and may sometimes be referred to as ‘TeamMates’.

The main parts are:

• Sympodium write on panel - this is the local monitor for the AV PC and can be used as an interactive panel using ‘Smart Board’ software.
• Visuliser – This is an illuminated video camera which can be used to view documents and 3-dimensional objects
• AV PC – This is the input for PowerPoint presentations, video, DVD etc. It has ‘Smart Board’, DVD playing and visuliser image capture software installed.
• Control Panel – this is used to control what inputs go to projector or plasma screen, control projector / plasma on/off/blank and audio levels.

The AV desks should be fixed in position and not moved.
